Bacterial Meningitis in the Motherlode
Another case of Bacterial meningitis has been confirmed in the Motherlode.
The latest involves a Summerville High School student. Since Dec 3rd there have been 5 confirmed cases with one in Calaveras County and the other 4 in Tuolumne. One of these cases was fatal.
Summerville High school officials sent letters home with the students explaining the situation and urging familes to be on heightened alert for symptoms which include fever, headache, a possible stiff neck ( which is very painful) and a purplish rash that resembles small dots. Treatment should be sought as soon as possible in the event of a suspected case.
