Interfaith Running Low On Household Items

Sonora, CA — Those in Tuolumne County needing warm bedding, kitchen appliances, pots and pans are finding that Interfaith Social Services is close to running out of supplies.

Interfaith Social Services Director Diane Bennett relays that recently bigger households, larger families, have reached out for help which has quickly depleted the supply of bedding, bath towels, hand towels and toiletries. The basics are what is needed most, blankets and sheets for all sizes of beds from king and queen down to twin or full size. Looking over the available items she notes they have enough dishes, but no pots or pans. Heavy tarps are also needed as they help solve a variety of problems for people as well. Bennett states help is available for anyone, including for temporary one-time situations due to an injury or for longer term complications.

Interfaith is currently open and available to accept donations from 10 AM to 1 PM Tuesday through Friday at 18500 Striker Court in Sonora.

When asked if there is good news Bennett doesn’t hesitate, “we have the best volunteers in Tuolumne County,” she says confidently. She says volunteers are available to sort donations, and noted the recent Volunteer Fair was a wonderful event to participate in. Bennett also adds Interfaith has “The best clothing to wear to job interviews.”

As reported in November food banks and pantries including Interfaith, witnessed a short-term spike in demand due to uncertainty related to federal funding. The general need in the community has also been increasing in recent months and years.

Interfaith is able to receive discounts and get items via food banks like ATCAA. To support Interfaith’s efforts, monetary donations can be dropped off or checks mailed to Interfaith Social Services, 18500 Striker Court, Sonora CA 95370.Â
