Update at 2:04Â p.m.: An update on the two fires in two counties: CAL Fire reports that they have stopped the forward spread of both blazes. Firefighters have stopped the spread of a quarter-acre vegetation fire, named the Sonny Fire, near Sonny Lane and Highway 12 in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County. In Tuolumne County, the Starletta Fire broke out in some vegetation in the 14300 block of Rosebud Drive in Jamestown, near the south shore of Lake Tulloch. Crews were able to stop the forward spread of the blaze earlier in the one o’clock hour, which was estimated at one acre. Crews will remain on the scene of both blazes, working towards full containment and mopping up for the next couple of hours. What sparked these fires is under investigation.
Original post at 1:34 p.m.: Jamestown, CA – Ground and air resources are working two fires in two counties: CAL Fire reports crews are battling a blaze in Valley Springs and have just stopped the spread of a fire near Lake Tulloch on the Tuolumne County side.
Currently, firefighters are battling a quarter-acre vegetation fire, named the Sonny Fire, with a slow rate of spread near Sonny Lane and Highway 12 in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County. There is no word on whether any structures are threatened at this time.
In Tuolumne County, the Starletta Fire broke out in some vegetation in the 14300 block of Rosebud Drive in Jamestown, near the south shore of Lake Tulloch.
