A Water Main Installation To Cause Long Delays on Phoenix Lake Road

Sonora, CA: Motorists can expect long delays for the next month traveling in the Phoenix Lake area as Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) installs a new water mainline next week.

Crews will work along the shoulder of Phoenix Lake Road, between Midland and Sommette drives, as part of the Midland Improvement Project. It is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 4th, 2026, and work will take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will be completed in a month.

During construction, flagging and one-lane traffic control will be in place, causing up to 20-minute delays for commuters. TUD encourages vehicles to use other routes, such as Highway 108, if feasible. They added, “For those who must travel through the work area, please drive with caution to ensure the safety of construction workers and the public.”

For questions and further information, the public should contact TUD at (209) 532-5536.
