Update at 6:14 p.m.: More evacuees from the Gann Fire in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County have returned home today. The fire’s acreage is holding at 10,374 acres and containment has grown to 47 percent, with over 3,100 state and local fire personnel battling the blaze. The list of evacuated areas now open has not changed since this afternoon’s report that can be viewed below. CAL Fire reminds the public that utility crews are still in the area working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. This work is ongoing, and some people may continue to be without power after returning to their properties. Additionally, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office put out this public information for those returning home:

The Valley Springs Evacuation Center is available for displaced residents and their domesticated animals. Volunteers with the American Red Cross are on scene at both locations, providing assistance alongside Calaveras County Health and Human Services.
