Alcohol Suspected In Motorcycle Crash
An accident between a van and motorcycle Saturday afternoon serious injured the motorcycle rider.
The crash was reported around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 4, west of Angels Camp near the Waterman Creek bridge.
The CHP says 42 year-old Rex Russell of San Andreas was had been reported driving at a high rate of speed and passing other vehicles in a reckless manner. He lost control of the Harley Davidson and struck a van nearly head-on. The CHP suspected alcohol was involved after they found several beers in the saddle bag of the motorcycle.
An Air Med helicopter transported Russell to Doctor´s Hospital in Modesto with major head trauma , broken ribs and collapsed lung. He was later arrested for DUI.
Driver of the van from Clovis, was uninjured.
