Sonora Fire Contained

Firefighters quickly handled a grass fire in Downtown Sonora behind Cassina High School Tuesday afternoon.
The fire reportedly started near the portable classrooms and the garden to the rear of the campus, located between South Barretta Street and Morning Star Drive.
The fire was first reported at 1:18 p.m.
Fire officials say the fire was contained between city streets in the area and burnt about one acre. Fire crews will be in the area doing mop-up for about two hours. A fire investigator was called to to determine a cause.
