Sacramento PD Set for More Protests
Sacramento police are gearing up for more possible protests today on day two of an international biotechnology conference.
Eight protesters were arrested yesterday in a demonstration that involved more than 1,500 people who decried genetically modified food as a health threat. About 20 protesters later shed their clothes and danced on the steps of the state Capitol, then began an unauthorized march through downtown. The naked protesters, and about 50 followers, dispersed when the CHP brought in buses and threatened to arrest them.
The conference is focusing on farming methods, irrigation and pest management to help developing countries cut world hunger by 2015.
