Budget Deadline Won’t be Met

There are just three days to go to California´s constitutional deadline to pass a state budget. But Legislators have headed home for a long weekend after spending less than an hour yesterday debating resolutions related to Father´s Day and allowing golf carts to cross a Sacramento area road.
Waiting for the lawmakers when they return is the impasse on what to do about the estimated $38.2 billion state budget deficit.
Republicans still say they won´t go along with any plan that inludes higher taxes. Democrats say that higher taxes, spending cuts, and borrowing are all necessary.
