State: Deadline Needed for Feds to Study Oil Exploration

State attorneys have asked a federal court to set a deadline for the Bush administration to begin environmental studies on expanded oil and gas exploration off California´s central coast. The state deputy attorney general says federal officials either need to order an environmental review of potential exploration sites or cancel some three dozen offshore leases.
