Update: Structure Fire Into Vegetation In Sonora
Update at 8:52am: The Sonora Police Department reports that all of the roads have reopened following the fire in the 300 block of East Lyons Street. The cause of the blaze, which reportedly started in an outbuilding and spread to nearby vegetation, is under investigation.
Update at 7:36am: The forward progress has been stopped on fire that started in an outbuilding and spread to vegetation in the 300 block of East Lyons Street. The earlier road closures remain in place, according to the Police Department, as firefighters continue to mop-up the incident. Some of the initial responders have been released from the incident. Details regarding the fire are under investigation.
Original story posted at 7:21am: Sonora, CA — Firefighters and emergency responders are on the scene of a fire in the 300 block of East Lyons Street.
The Sonora Police Department notes that a structure fire has spread into nearby vegetation. The PD is evacuating some of the homes in the immediate vicinity, as a precaution. There are road closures at Hope Lane and Lyons Street and East Bald Mountain Road at Lyons Street.
The fire reportedly originated in an outbuilding and the vegetation fire aspect is moving at a “slow rate of spread.” The size is not immediately clear.
