Update: Fire In Copperopolis

Update at 12:35 p.m.:  CAL Fire reports that firefighters have stopped the forward progress of the Tenton near Lake Tulloch in Copperopolis. The grass fire broke out in the eleven o’clock hour on the 5100 block of Kiva Place behind the Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) Copper Cove water treatment plant, which is near Little John Road, off Highway 4 in Calaveras County. CAL Fire reports the blaze is estimated at 40-50 acres, and all aircraft have been called off the scene. Crews will remain on the scene working towards full containment and mopping up for the next couple of hours. What sparked the fire is under investigation.

Update at 11:58 a.m.: Firefighters are making progress on the Tenton Fire, a vegetation fire near Lake Tulloch in Calaveras County. It ignited in some grass in the 5100 block of Kiva Place behind the Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) Copper Cove water treatment plant, which is near Little John Road, off Highway 4 in Copperopolis. CAL Fire reports that the blaze is now estimated at 40-50 acres and moving at a moderate spread. An update will be provided as soon as new information comes into the newsroom.

Update post at 11:45 a.m.: Ground and air resources are battling a vegetation fire near Lake Tulloch in Calaveras County. CAL Fire has dubbed it the Tenton Fire that ignited in the 5100 block of Kiva Place behind the Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) Copper Cove water treatment plant, which is near Little John Road, off Highway 4 in Copperopolis. CAL Fire reports that the blaze is 4 acres in size and that the flames are moving at a moderate rate of spread.
