Update: Red Flag Warning For The Northern San Joaquin Valley

Sponsored by:

A Wind Advisory has been issued for the northern San Joaquin Valley, from 11 PM tonight (Thursday) until 11 PM Friday.

North to east winds of fifteen to thirty mph are forecast, with gusts ranging from forty to fifty-five mph.

The strongest winds are expected tonight and Friday.

Such gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Additionally, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the northern San Joaquin Valley, until 5 PM Saturday.

The combination of gusty winds and low humidity is anticipated.

Minimum daytime relative humidity of ten to twenty-five percent is possible Friday and Saturday. Moderate to poor overnight relative humidity recoveries will range from twenty-five to fifty percent.

The combination of gusty wind and low humidity can cause new fires and existing wildfires to rapidly grow in size and intensity.

Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
