Evacuation Orders Lifted
San Andreas, CA — The Murray Fire outside of San Andreas is now 75 percent contained and is 83 acres in size.
CAL Fire Spokesperson Lisa Williams reports that residents that were evacuated from three nearby homes on Murray Dale Road are allowed to return home.
CAL Fire has several engines on scene from both the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit and the Amador-Eldorado region. Local government resources were also dispatched from San Andreas, Jenny Lind, Mokelumne Hill, Central Fire and Murphys Fire. Two dozers, four hand crews, Air Attack, two air tankers and two helicopters have been assisting.
Containing the fire has been challenging because it is down in a canyon where there is steep terrain and heavy fuels.
It started at around 1:45pm on Monday in the 3000 block of Murray Dale Lane, just outside of San Andreas.
