Valley Springs Arrest

Valley Springs, CA– Calaveras County authorities arrested a Valley Springs man over the weekend.


The Sheriff’s Office reports that on Sunday at around 8:10 am, 33-year-old Emmitt Cleveland James Jr. was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor probation violation warrant at the corner of Daphne and Myrtle Streets in Valley Springs.


During the arrest, Deputy Serpa asked James Jr. if he had anything in his pockets that he could not take into the county jail. James said that he had “dope” in his pocket and handed the deputy a bag of a white crystal-like substance.


Deputy Serpa tested the substance which was suspected of being methamphetamine. It tested presumptive positive for methadrine and amphetamine.


Emmett Cleveland James Jr. is being held at Calaveras County Jail on a no bail warrant for a probation violation and possession of a controlled substance.
