Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Accident
Sonora, CA– A 52-year-old Sonora woman was seriously injured this morning after being hit by a car.
Both the Sonora Police Department and the Sonora Fire Department responded to the scene at the 400 block of S. Stewart Street. A pedestrian was reportedly down in the roadway and bleeding from a head injury.
The Sonora Police Department says that Dawn Davenport, 35, of Sonora was driving her sedan southbound on S. Stewart Street when pedestrian, Deborah Nevarez stepped out in front of her vehicle for an unknown reason.
Witnesses stated that Davenport did not have time to react to Nevarez.
Nevarez was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center and then air lifted to Doctors Hospital in Modesto.
Although Nevarez sustained several broken bones and lacerations, her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
