Water Level Low But Rain And Snow Are On The Way
Sonora, CA — According to the National Weather Service, long overdue mositure is on its way to the Mother Lode.
Starting Wednesday, a powerful Pacific jet stream will finally punch through the ususually strong high ridge pressure that has kept the area so dry for so long. Several inches of liquid sunshine along with a significant snowfall is expected especially Thursday through the weekend.
Currently, geologists are estimating the state´s snowpack at 38 per cent of normal. Last year at this time that figure stood at 104 per cent.
Water level at New Lake Melones is decidedly lower following the low dry spell that brought bone-dry weather to the Mother Lode in January.
Currently the Sierra Nevada snowpack is measured at only thirty eight per cent of normal. A year ago at this time the figure was 104 per cent.
