Update at 2:43 p.m.: CAL FIRE reports that ground and air resources have stopped the spread of the Keystone Fire, a vegetation fire burning in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County. The flames ignited around 2:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Happy Valley Road off Keystone Way near Camanche Parkway South. Initially, two structures were threatened by the fire, but when crews arrived on scene, they quickly stopped the slow-moving fire’s forward spread in about 20 minutes, at about half an acre in size. Fire crews will remain on scene working towards full containment, then mop up. What sparked this fire is under investigation.
Original post at 2:31 p.m.: Valley Springs, CA — Ground and air resources are battling a vegetation fire in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County near the south shore of the Camanche Reservoir.
The flame ignited in the 1300 block of Happy Valley Road off Keystone Way near Camanche Parkway South. CAL FIRE has named it the Keystone Fire and reports that the blaze is half an acre in size and burning at a slow rate of spread. Currently, two structures are threatened.
