Last Weekend of May Events

There are several events planned for the last weekend in May in the Mother Lode.

First, on Friday, students, families, and community members are invited to connect with students, teachers, and counselors to experience the future of education and workforce development at the 2026 Tuolumne County CTE Showcase & Expo. The hands-on event at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds brings together local schools, industry professionals, and training programs to highlight real-world career pathways and opportunities. Interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, employers will be at the Showcase & Expo offering an engaging look at how education leads to meaningful careers. The event is open to students and schools from 9 am – 3 pm and open to the Public from 3 – 6 pm.

Saturday the Sonora United Methodist Church will host its semi-annual rummage sale that is a pay-what-you-want cash-only event from 8 am – 2 pm. Donations will support their 501(c) charity, Beans & Rice & Jesus Christ, that feeds the community homeless and financially challenged community once a week. Details are in the event listing here.

Saturday there will be a noon tour and lunch at the Sonora Dome. The roof of the needs repairs before it can be fully restored and safely reopened for public use. Event organizers state “Without this essential repair, continued deterioration threatens the structure and places the building’s future at risk.” The Sonora Area Foundation will match all donations up to $125,000. On Saturday three Granny Basketball® California league teams will face off in a triple-header at the Tuolumne Veterans Memorial Hall. Each game lasts about an hour with the first game beginning at noon, between the California Poppies and the Columbia Gold Diggers. Then the Oakdale Broncos play the California Poppies and last will be the Gold Diggers versus the Broncos. Admission donations will be awarded to the Center for a Non-Violent Community, a non-profit group in Tuolumne County that works to end domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and trauma.

The Mountain Ranch Music Festival will take place this Saturday 11 am – 7 pm at Mountain Ranch Community Park. Bring lawn chairs, and dancing shoes, there will be multiple bands playing country, rock and blues plus food vendors, drinks and crafts. The event supports Mountain Ranch Park and Special Olympics.

A a community-wide garage sale hosted by the Lake Tulloch Shores/ Poker Flat Property Owners Association will be held in Copperopolis on Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm as listed in our Classifieds here.

The Sonora Farmers Market is this Saturday morning.

This Sunday is the Sonora Toy-Anime-Comic Con from 11 am to 4 pm at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. There will be a Cosplay Costume Contest at 2:30 pm.

Sunday at 6:30 am is also the Run the Rim race in Arnold at White Pines Park. Your participation supports the Arnold Rim Trail Association non-profit’s ongoing efforts to develop and maintain this trail system. Details are here.
