Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council has several items to review at its meeting today (Monday).
The council will convene at 4 pm at City Hall and immediately break into closed session. The first item to discuss behind closed doors is labor negotiations with the Sonora Police Officers Association, followed by a conference with legal counsel regarding a liability claim.
The regular session will then open at 5 pm. There will be informational updates provided by both Tuolumne County Supervisor Mike Holland and Sonora City Administrator Chris Gorsky. Immediately after, there will be a presentation by Visit Tuolumne County about its Step into Sonora initiative, followed by an introduction/swearing-in of two new Police Explorers, Joseph Greene and Destiny Bryan.
Later in the meeting, there will be a vote to approve $999,981 in Proposition 64 Public Health and Safety Grant Program dollars. We reported earlier that a similar amount is going to the Calaveras Public Health Department, and the state money aims to combat the impacts of legalizing marijuana.
The 5 pm portion of the meeting is open to the public.
