Valley Springs, CA — Mop-up operations and repairs to fire-damaged areas are the current focus of the Gann Fire response.
The fire is now 90% contained and is holding at 10,339 acres. Earlier, there were well over 3,000 firefighters assigned to the incident, and the number has reduced to 1,557. Still assigned are 136 engines, 38 water tenders, three helicopters, 15 dozers, and 32 hand crews.
Damage assessment is ongoing. There were at least 48 structures destroyed and 5 that were damaged.
One firefighter was injured, and there was one civilian fatality.
The Calaveras Board of Supervisors will ratify an emergency declaration related to the fire at its meeting today.
