Trial Letdown in Redwood City
The murder trial of Scott Peterson has been a bit of a disappointment to some Redwood City residents.
After it was announced early last year that Peterson´s trial would be moved to Redwood City, officials expected to reap a financial windfall.
One local tourism official described herself at the time as “ecstatic” over the prospect the trial would bring an estimated eight million dollars to 16 million dollars to the area.
But that expected windfall never came in.
A spokesman for Redwood City describes the financial benefit of the trial to the city as “negligible.”
Meanwhile, the trial isn´t over yet.
Jurors still must decide whether Scott Peterson will be sentenced to death or to life in prison.
The penalty phase of the trial begins next week.
