Red Flag Fire Warning In Effect
A “Red Flag” fire danger warning is been issued for tonight through Saturday for area on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada including the Stanislaus National Forest and surrounding areas of the Mother Lode.
The National Weather Service says gusty winds, combined with hot temperatures and low humidity is making fire danger extremely high in our region.
Fire officials are urging people to be fire safe during this time.
Yesterday the Bureau of Land Management raised fire restrictions on BLM land in Tuolumne, Calaveras, Amador as well as other Northern California counties.
The ban includes all open campfires — even in designated campgrounds. The use of pumps, chain saws, brush cutters and other engines is now allowed only from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.
