Assembly Postpones Exit Exam

The class of 2004 may be getting a break from that exit exam needed to graduate high school. The state Assembly has voted to postpone the requirement to 2006.
Backers note continuing difficulties of California students and say the test will only cause higher dropout rates. Opponents say the test should remain as a graduation requirement to keep schools accountable.
The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
