Calaveras Grown Conference Saturday
The annual Calaveras Grown Conference, featuring a talk by Desmond Jolly, director of the Small Farm Center at the University of California at Davis, is set for Saturday, at 9 a.m. in the Calaveras High School gymnasium. Admission is free.
Calaveras Grown is a countywide marketing and educational program to assist local agricultural producers market their products. The goal is to bring communities together for the support and growth of agriculture, agri-tourism and preservation of open space in Calaveras County.
Booth exhibits will be open from 9 to 1 p.m. Formalities begin at 9 a.m. with a welcome address by Ken Churches, county director of the U.C. Cooperative Extension. At 9:10 a.m., Ed Rich, Calaveras Grown president, will chair the annual business meeting. At 9:30 a.m., Jolly will deliver his talk. The Calaveras Future Farmers of America chapter will operate the snack bar.
