Butte County Not Happy With Casino Plans

Butte County officials are unhappy with a massive expansion of the Gold Country Casino that they say the Tyme Maidu Tribe is undertaking without consulting the county. The tribe informed the county about the project with a two-sentence letter. The construction includes a six-story hotel. County officials say the tribe is starting the project without addressing the cost to government services and the surrounding community – such as affects to traffic and fire safety.
