Davis Hits Road On PR Tour
Governor Davis has launched a public relations tour of sorts for his budget plan that cuts services and raises taxes to fill an estimated 34-point-six (b) billion dollar deficit.
Davis is spending three days personally attempting to sell the merits of his budget proposal to legislators, newspaper publishers and reporters. Republicans and others are stepping up their criticism of the plan. Some say Davis has inflated the deficit number to justify raising taxes.
Davis chatted with Hispanic leaders yesterday evening and is scheduled to meet this afternoon with California´s top four legislative leaders. He´s scheduled to speak Thursday at a Sacramento Press Club luncheon. The state´s nonpartisan legislative analyst will release her initial assessment of Davis´ plan tomorrow.
