Update: Forward Spread Stopped in Forest Fire
Update at 2:35 p.n.: Fire crews are making progress on a small vegetation fire burning in the Stanislaus National Forest.
Original post at 2:16 p.m.: Strawberry, CA — Smoke can be seen over the Stanislaus National Forest as firefighters are battling a small vegetation fire. Forest spokesperson Veronica Garcia reports the flame’s forward rate of spread has been stopped on the 30 x 30 foot spot fire. The blaze ignited just after 2 p.m. behind George Drive in Strawberry. Two engines and one water tender remain on the scene to get full containment and mop up for the next several hours.
Crews are working to contain a 30 x 30 foot size blaze that is burning in Strawberry behind George Drive. Columbia Air Attack was initially called to the scene but was released soon after takeoff, according to Forest spokesperson Veronica Garcia. Two engines and one water tender remain on the fire all other incoming resources have been released. We will bring you more details as soon as it comes into the news center.
