Containment Boost On Camp Fire

Sponsored by:

Paradise, CA — There was a significant increase in containment over recent days on the 151,000 acre Camp Fire burning in Butte County.

CAL Fire reports that it is now 66-percent contained. Over 15,000 structures have been destroyed, including 11,713 homes, 472 commercial buildings and 3,388 outbuildings. There are 77 confirmed fatalities and around 1,000 people are still unaccounted for. Over 400 officials are briskly searching through the town of Paradise, and surrounding foothills, ahead of heavy rainfall anticipated later this week. When no remains are found a “0” is spray painted at the site. The incoming rain is expected to be a positive when it comes to slowing the spread and minimizing the smoke, however, it could be a negative when it comes to cleaning up the destruction and searching for human remains.

There are 5,332 firefighters assigned to the incident, 597 engines, 83 dozers and 28 helicopters.
