Update: Winter Weather Advisory For The Mountains Above 6,000 Feet

The Winter Weather Advisory that has been issued for the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada above 6,000 feet and Yosemite National Park (above the Valley floor), will expire at 8 AM this morning (Thursday).

Snow remains in the forecast until then.

The snow levels currently range between 5,500 to 6,000 feet.

Additional snow accumulations above the 6,000 foot elevation, were expected to range between two inches to as much as a foot.

Winds gusts ranging from sixty to seventy-five mph were also forecast. Continue to expect whiteout conditions with such gusty winds. Trees can also fall due to the snow and wind.

Travel may be very difficult. Be prepared for slippery roads. Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
