Twain Harte, CA — The current Principal and Superintendent of the Twain Harte School is the lone challenger facing incumbent Zack Abernathy in the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools race.
(An earlier similar type story highlighting Abernathy’s re-election announcement can be found here).
Gabe Wingo completed elementary, high school, and community college in Tuolumne County, and later earned a Master’s Degree in Education from CSU Stanislaus. He has been an educator in the county since 2006, and an administrator for the past 10 years. If elected as county superintendent, Wingo says he would aim to ensure that students are prepared for the future, with a commitment to student achievement, staff development, and fiscal responsibility.
“The education and workforce landscape is constantly evolving,” says Wingo. “As County Superintendent, I will work to ensure our schools are preparing students for a successful entry into a career or college while continuing to provide safe learning environments with innovative teachers that inspire our students.”
During his tenure at Twain Harte School, Wingo says he has created a school culture that prioritizes developing staff capacity and increasing family engagement to improve outcomes for all students.
In addition to his current role at Twain Harte, he also currently serves as president of the Tuolumne Charter of the Association of California School Administrators.
“I’m running to become the next County Superintendent of Schools because I believe our county deserves experienced and proven administrative leadership to support students and collaborate with school and community leaders to find solutions to the challenges our schools face. I will restore confidence in our educational leadership and bring student success back as a top priority in our county.”
The election is on June 2.
