Valley Springs, CA — Firefighters are successfully holding the Gann Fire to 10,374 acres.
The fire is now estimated to be 40% contained. Many areas around the fire are in a mop-up stage, and several of the evacuees were allowed to return home on Thursday afternoon.

18 structures have been destroyed by the fire. There has been one firefighter injury and one civilian fatality.
The total personnel is up to 3,121. It includes 117 engines, 37 water tenders, 11 helicopters, 40 dozers, and 78 hand crews.
It started on August 3 at around 5:30 pm. We reported earlier that 65-year-old Herbert Wayne Smith was arrested in connection with the fire.
