Public works officials report the roadway will reopen when the water recedes.

As the temperatures have dipped below freezing, creating icy roadways and a storm system brings heavy rain to the region, the CHP is cautioning drivers to take precautions.

The California Office of Emergency Services is deploying resources across California ahead of an atmospheric river storm system set to arrive late this evening and continue through Thursday and Friday.

With heavy rain and high-country snow anticipated this weekend across Northern California, and continuing into next week, the California Office of Emergency Services reports that it is pre-deploying resources ahead of the weather event.

Cleanup is underway following heavy winds earlier this week at Calaveras Big Trees State Park.

Dodge Ridge and Bear Valley are both impacted by sustained high winds.  

Saturday was a very time for first responders due to a wind storm that passed through the region leaving downed trees and power lines.

Well over 10,000 PG&E customers are without power this morning due to wind storm that hit the Mother Lode this morning.

Now heading into the cooler months, the Tuolumne County Public Works Department wants to remind the community about its snow removal polices.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Weather Prediction Center has issued a warning for excessive rainfall in several parts of Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.

Snow in the mountains has temporarily closed Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass, Highway 108 Sonora Pass, but Yosemite National Park reopened Highway 120 Tioga Pass this afternoon.

Sonora, Ebbetts and Tioga passes are now closed due to snow.

Since 2006, six people have died falling from the Yosemite cables during wet conditions, and more storms are forecast to blow through the park.

Park officials say it has to do with packing in and packing out.
